본 연구는 서울시 중고등학생을 대상으로 인구학적 특성, 에이즈감염경로지식, 동성애자에 대한 태도, 에이즈 낙인, 에이즈 감염인에 대한 사회적 거리감 사이의 인과구조를 집단별로 규명하기 위한 것이다. 중학교 8개교, 고등학교 8개교에 배포된 설문지는 3,370부 중 수거된 설문지는 3,135였고, 불성실한 설문지 34부를 제외한 총 3,101부(98.9%)가 분석에 사용되었고, 유효하지 않은 사례는 일률적(listwise)으로 제거하여 유효사례 수는 2,977부였다. 분석방법으로 탐색적 요인분석(EFA), 확인적 요인분석(CFA), 공변량 구조분석 등을 시도하였고, 모형을 추정하기 위해 구조방정식 모형을 사용하였다. 모형검증의 추정결과, 첫째, 중학생과 고등학생 간에 에이즈 차별의식의 구성개념인 에이즈 낙인과 에이즈 감염인에 대한 사회적 거리감에서 뚜렷한 차이를 보이고 있었다. 둘째, 에이즈 낙인에 대한 의생변인인 동성애자에 대한 태도는 중학생(), 고등학생() 모두 강한 정(+)의 인과적 영향을 보였으며, 셋째, 에이즈 감염인에 대한 사회적 거리감의 외생변인인 동성애자에 대한 태도는 중학생(), 고등학생() 모두 약한 정(+)의 영향을 보였다. 넷째, 에이즈 감염경로 지식은 중학생(), 고등학생() 모두 강한 정(+)의 인과적 영향을 미쳤고, 다섯째, 에이즈 감염인에 대한 사회적 거리감에 영향을 미치는 외생변인인 에이즈 감염경로 지식은 중학생(), 고등학생() 모두 정(+)의 인과적 영향을 미쳤다. 여섯째, 에이즈 감염인에 대한 사회적 거리감에 영향을 미치는 외생변인인 에이즈 낙인은 중학생(), 고등학생() 모두 강한 정(+)의 인과적 영향을 미쳤다. 이상의 분석결과 에이즈 감염인에 대한 낙인 및 사회적 거리감을 해소하기 위해서는 에이즈 지식 중 감염경로에 대한 지식을 높이고, 에이즈를 동성애자의 병으로 바라보는 시각을 해소시키는 것이 필요하다고 판단된다.

Objectives: This study was to examine HIV/AIDS knowledge of transmission, attitudes toward homosexuals on stigma of HIV/AIDS and discriminatory attitudes towards person with HIV/AIDS (PWHAs) by middle and high school students in Seoul, Korea.
Methods: The population of this study is middle and high school students in Seoul, Korea. Eight junior high schools and eight senior high schools were selected randomly. Three thousand and one hundred thirty-one students (1704 males and 1397 males) from 16 schools participated in the survey, and 2.977 cases were analyzed. A self-administered questionnaire measuring socio-demographic variables, HIV/AIDS knowledge of transmission, sigma of HIV/AIDS (3 items, 5-point Likert-type scale) and discriminatory attitudes PWHAs (5 items, 5-point Likert-type scale) was utilized. The Structural Equation Modeling was employed to investigate the research Model.
Results: The empirical study shows that a number of statistical hypotheses are significant. The stigma and discriminatory attitudes PWHAs were significantly different by middle and high school students. The attitudes toward homosexuals and HIV/AIDS knowledge of transmission were important factors on stigma and discriminatory attitudes PWHAs. Socio-demographical variables such as sex was related to the stigma and discriminatory attitudes PWHAs.
Conclusion: Therefore, it is important to design HIV prevention strategies that increase in positive attitudes towards PWHAs.
